What is SHAZAMChek? It is a debit card that essentially operates as an electronic paperless check at any merchant accepting MasterCard or SHAZAM. It doubles as an ATM card for making deposits, withdrawals of cash, or transfers between your checking and savings account.

Is SHAZAMChek a credit card? No. As a debit card, it automatically deducts purchases from your checking account rather than adding to the balance on a line of credit.

How do I keep track of purchases? Merchants will give you a receipt for your purchases just as they normally would. Plus, each purchase will be detailed on your monthly statement. ATMs will provide transaction receipts. Be sure to record these transactions in your check register.

With SHAZAMChek, do I still need a credit card? Yes, if you prefer to buy on credit or if you want to spread out payments. A debit card will not allow making payments over time, the amount is deducted immediately from your checking account.

How do I use my SHAZAMChek card? When making a purchase at a MasterCard location, just present it to the merchant as you would a credit card. For ATM transactions, simply use your PIN number and follow the instructions on the terminal.

How does currency conversion work? For debit card holders using their card for a transaction in a country using currency other than U.S. dollars, the exchange rate for the transaction currency and the billing currency is a government mandated or wholesale rate selected by MasterCard from the range of rates available in wholesale currency marketing for the applicable central processing date, plus 0.20 percent.

Do I pay interest of finance charges on my purchase? No, because SHAZAMChek purchases are posted to your checking account. You are not making a credit purchase subject to finance charges. The only fees may be those associated with your ATM card usage. ($1.00 per foreign transaction)

How do I activate my SHAZAMChek card? You must use your debit card with your PIN, (personal identification number), at an ATM first.

What happens if I lose my SHAZAMChek card? Contact us immediately at 1.800.383.8000. That's all there is to it. We'll handle all the details.
